Letter to Marion CG7

A woman wrote the following letter to the Marion, Iowa church after the members reached out to her. The woman’s name appears here as Jane, and her baby is called Faith to protect their identity.

Church of God 7th day,

On June 2, 2016, I showed up to your church for your free clothing drive. I was in a terrible situation at the time and your volunteers reached out to me. I was 5 months pregnant and fleeing domestic violence. I was desperate to get to the DV shelter in Waverly, Iowa and my final destination was Colorado. You all prayed for me, and let me use your phone, and gave me what you had in your pockets to help me with gas to get to Waverly. You helped pick out maternity clothes and some food for my journey. You also gave me a bible, written to me and my daughter (Baby Faith) due September 30, 2016.

I just wanted to let you know I reached my destination and it was because of you I became a believer. I reached the DV shelter in Waverly, Iowa that night and they donated gas cards to help me get to Colorado Springs. Baby Faith was born September 27, 2016. She was 8 lbs. 3 ounces. A week after her birth I was accepted into a Christian based program called Dream Centers, Mary’s home. It is an amazing program for single homeless women and their children. We have our own apartment and take faith based classes to help us with our healing and relationship with God. I was saved and water baptized 2 weeks after Faith’s birth. God has showed me that miracles really do happen when you put all your faith in Him, He will guide you in the right direction. I am working on opening my own thrift furniture store next fall, my dream. The day I walked into your church was the day my journey with God began. I will always cherish and remember you all. You saved my life and led me to get saved. Faith and I have an amazing life and it’s only just begun.

God Bless you all,

Jane and Baby Faith
